Tom Hutton

Tom Hutton is a rare veteran in the InsurTech community, having spent over 30 years as an entrepreneur, private investor, and Venture Capitalist focused on insurance, finance, and related technology companies. Tom’s career has been dedicated to risk management and helping companies and organizations to build sustainability and resiliency through better understanding and applying the science and engineering underlying risk.

Fun Fact

In his mid-twenties, Tom was a designer and builder of commercial fishing vessels, one of which he owned and operated in Bristol Bay, Alaska. To address the very high cost of insurance, he formed his first risk venture, by forming a group of fishermen and pooling both operating and insurance risks in a “pier to pier” structure.

Executive Assistant

Anna McGadden

Anna joined XL Innovate in 2015 as an Executive Assistant, managing XL’s office operations and providing support to the investing teams in Menlo Park, New York City and London. She has spent the past two decades working closely with entrepreneurs and investors in the startup ecosystem.

Most recently, Anna worked as an Executive Assistant supporting Managing Directors at USVP, a leading venture capital partnership. Anna also worked as a Marketing Manager for 20 years at Mayfield Fund, where she was responsible for managing events and marketing for the fund. Before working in the venture industry, Anna was a marketing manager for insurance broker, Indianapolis Life.

Anna attended San Jose State University and is a regular volunteer in the Bay Area.

Lynne L. Hague

Lynne joined Thompson Hutton LLC in March 2020 as the Controller, providing accounting and bookkeeping services. Concurrently, Lynne provides forensic accounting services to a local CPA/Attorney.

Most recently, Lynne worked as the Office Manager and bookkeeper for Lighthouse Capital Partners for 13 years. Prior to moving to Northern California in 2007, Lynne had an extensive 28-year career working for 3 different CPA firms in the Los Angeles area. She had a varied professional background functioning as a Firm Administrator, Director of Human Resources, Controller, and Tax Administrator. Lynne was affiliated with the California Society of CPAs, serving as the Co-Chairperson of the California Society of CPAs State Committee on Human Resources from 2001-2004.

Lynne attended University of California, Los Angeles.

Fun Fact

Lynne has a passion for and an excellent knowledge of red wine, specifically the Rhone and Bordeaux blends.

Steven Freiberg is a long term veteran of the financial services sector, having held multiple positions at Citigroup (NYSE:C) over a 30 year period including serving as the Co-Chairman and CEO of Citigroup’s Global Consumer Group, and most recently as the CEO of E*TRADE Financial Corporation (NASDAQ:ETFC) where he led the company back to profitability in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis. He is the founder of Grand Vista Partners, the Freiberg Family Investment Office, a Board member of Fair Square Financial, MasterCard (NYSE:MA), OANDA, Purchasing Power, and Regional Management (NYSE:RM), and a senior advisor to several companies including The Boston Consulting Group and Verisk Analytics (NASDAQ:VRSK). Freiberg holds a BS in Finance as well as an MBA in Finance from Hofstra University.
